Took a long time to clean the goo off the pulleys, but a $10 belt and several hours later and we are back in action! Of course the belts were dead, and I've never seen belts die like they did on this, they were literally melted into goo. So it literally has less than a half hour run time on it. Unfortunately this was a bit before Dolby S was common, but it does have HX PRO, a very easy to use and quite accurate auto biasing system, remote control, and variable headphone output.Īnd, it turns out he never, ever used it, he did not have any prerecorded tapes and evidently the recording process was "too complex" for him and he never bothered to tell me he needed some user training on it. Recently bought some audio stuff from my long time friend who was in need of cash, part of the deal was an Onkyo TA-28000 cassette deck that I helped him pick out way back in 1989 when he said he wanted a deck, second only to their TA-2900 it was a very good near top of the line deck in it's day.
